Wearing A Yoke From Our Youth: Part 2

"It is good for a man, when he hath borne the yoke from his youth." Lamentations 3:27

"For my yoke is sweet (Latin word meaning pleasant, aggreeable, easy) and my burden light.." Matthew 11:30

"I can do all these things in him (Christ) who strengtheneth me. " Philippians 4:13

One of the most important things in life, one of the great secrets of life and joy and happiness is for a person to have the right kind of yoke. I would hate to think what I would do without the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is the body of Christ! (1 Corinthians 12:27). The Church is Christ here on earth and the Church is here to yoke up with us and to help us carry the burden God has given to each and every one of us to bear. With out the Church you do not have that sweet yoke to help you bare the burdens you have been given in your life.

Look, the reality is that nobody is happy without a yoke of some kind. Nobody is happy without a burden of some kind to bear. Nobody is happy without a load of some kind to carry, without a purpose in life. Did any of you mothers ever say, "Oh these children, they're in my hair. They give me fits. I wish that they'd get out from under my feet!" They will one of these days, and you will wish they were back under your feet. Enjoy that load you carry. Enjoy that burden you have. For happy is the person who has work to do and strength to do the work.

So everybody needs a yoke, every one needs a burden, a purpose in life. From the elderly people all the way down to the teenager and younger.

Go to the average fast food restaurant or movie theater and see the teens hanging around. Some of your kids, God pity them, just hanging around with there friends in town, flirting with all the girls, and trying to make a date, and so forth. You parents don't even no where they are! Everybody has got to much free time on their hands. That's the trouble with many kids. They have no real burden from Christ in their lives, no real purpose in there life. And they have not entered in to Christ's yoke and let him guide them.

Young people and old people alike, I don't care who you are, you are not going to be happy unless you have a load to carry. You need responsibility. You need to have a burden to bear, a load to pull, something for which you are responsible. Everybody needs that. And so, we should be willing to surrender to the burden Christ has for us. And if you have been given one by Christ, we should be thankful for that burden. Not only the burden but also the easy yoke that comes with it!
