Don't Be Distracted

Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord, and in the might of his power. Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil.For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.

The book of Ephesians is written to Christians. The lost man has no protection against Satan. "And that they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil, by whom they are held captive at his will." (II Timothy 2:26) They have no strength to resist him. (Romans 5:6) For Christ, when as yet we were weak, according to the time, died for the ungodly. They are of their father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. (John 8:44) In the context of the bible, the father is the authority figure. The one in authority in the life of a lost soul is Satan and he will have his way.

Our armour is the most unusual armour. It is armour for wrestling. It is a spiritual war and spiritual armour. "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places" (Ephesians 6:12) We wrestle the forces of hell. This is a spiritual combat. Don't get preoccupied with men. They are pawns in a game. There is an unseen hand moving the pieces. If I play chess with someone I must beat the hand that moves the pieces. The pieces have no power to defeat me. Bad men are nothing more than pawns in the game. I must defeat the unseen hand of Satan and his principalities. To get preoccupied with the pieces is a distraction and will cause me to deal with the symptom rather than the source of the problem.

I am not implying that evil men should not be exposed, nor am I implying that issues should not be dealt with, but we must not become crusaders dealing with the pawns and the symptoms or we will fail.

When you want to kill a snake you go for the head. The body will wrap you up and distract you so the head can devour you! Don't get distracted.
