Fathers Are To Enjoy Their Calling
"The Fruit of the womb is his reward...Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them... (Psalms 127:3,5)
To too many ungodly men, the fruit of the womb is a nuisance or even a curse. But a Christian takes an entirely different view of his children. he knows they are from the Lord and intended to be a reward for both the Lord and himself. He cherishes them as a very special gift from God. As he raises the carefully, they produce deep satisfaction and great joy. The apostle John said it well in his third Epistle: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth"
People normally get great delight from from reaping a big return from a small investment because they invest their whole life into raising their families. But the returns will make the investment seem small compared to the godly results.
One wise man put it like this: "Our soil is poor and the crops small, but we are raising men on it!" He knew that the greatest returns are not in the natural pursuits of a father but in the children he raises. Can the Lord count on us fathers to give our calling our best?
