[...] Traditionalist priests and bishops are merely sacramental priests and sacramental bishops. Archbishop Lefebvre stated that his bishop were merely sacramental bishops, whose sole duties were to ordain priests and consecrate bishops. He made it quite clear that he was not assigning them any territory to govern, such as a diocese or archdiocese. Bishop Daniel Dolan stated in an interview: “We don’t claim to possess any ordination jurisdiction or the power of excommunication. We have moral authority, but we don’t boss people around. We’re sacramental bishops, and traditionalist communities simply can’t survive for very long without sacramental bishops.” So what powers does a sacramental priest actually have? Let us consider what can be done validly by a person with no regard to whether or not the action is pleasing to Almighty God, for it is quite possible to effect a Sacrament and yet sin thereby.
[...] I applied to Econe and was denied admittance, because of my dismissal, in spite of Lefebvre’s promise. I wrote to the rector of Saint Joseph’s House by registered letter, requesting the reason, but never received a reply. In May of 1980 and again January of 1981 I hand delivered letters to Archbishop Lefebvre, regarding my dismissal. I never received any reply. I again contacted Archbishop Lefebvre by having a letter hand delivered to him at Econe in March of 1981. It was about the same time I resigned from the SSPX and my position at Saint Marys in the brother program I had entered in order to show my good faith. My reasons are discussed elsewhere on this website. [...]

[...] Unlike Bishop Fellay, Archbishop Lefebvre celebrated the Novus Ordo Missae until Christmas of 1971. One can presume that young Bernard Fellay assisted at these liturgies of Lefebvre until Lefebvre decided to begin the Rite of Econe as Bishop Dolan calls it. We have also reported this in 54 Years that Changed the Catholic Church. [...]
